Slowing Down

Family taking a break from the holiday craziness to do a little fishing on Lake Brantley.
It's all about prioritizing.

Don't know about the rest of you but I'm kind of glad it's over.

I love Christmas and everything that goes along with it but I equally love the way our home feels like a clean slate once all of the decorations are taken down and put away. I always make sure this is done before January 1st, somehow (to me) it symbolizes breathing a little easier.

Time to slow down and get back to normal.

*Taken over the weekend at the holiday boat parade.

With all of the Christmas crazy stuff monopolizing every free second, it's been hard to stick to goals. (That might be 50% true and 50% a cop out... Whatever). Shopping is done, food is ordered, presents still need to be wrapped and there are still a few cookie recipe's I want to try.

My goal this week is to take it all in stride. And get a pedicure. Definitely.

Loving: The new spot I discovered to pick fresh citrus.
Not Loving so much: Cranky boyfriends... What gives?!
Listening to: Mavis Staples
Reading (blog alert): The Private Life Of A Girl
Wanting: A Fitbit!
Needing: To get ready for work.
Wishing: Certain family members could get along... All of the bickering is giving me migraines. I might have to pull the momma card and get all Galadriel on their asses (she is a nasty piece of work when provoked)
Looking Forward To: A new year, fresh starts and, just like last week, the 5 in 4
Thankful For: As much as they drive me crazy, family and cranky boyfriends.

Merry Christmas To Meeee

This would be a picture of the original Andrew Spear drawing of the late great Sam Rivers (done for the cover of the Orlando Weekly). A local icon's rendition of another local icon. Hell yes!!! Or as Andrew Spear would say "WORD!"

With the help of my boyfriend, I purchased the original today. An early and most awesome Christmas present!

Early, cold morning by the St. Johns River

Small goals for the week ahead:

make a Grand Ma cake (I've been procrastinating)
finish up the Christmas shopping
clear off desk
deep clean bedroom and re-organize --everything--
re-organize kitchen cabinets and clean out refrigerator
get back in the habit of listing on-line sales
study the best way to sell on line
network blog
get out and take some new photos
order food for our holiday meal

And on that note... 10 days until Christmas. Yikes!

Loving: The way our home smells... Like fresh pine and baked goods.
Not loving: Unexpected visits from the last person you'd want to stop by.

Listening to: The Ramsey Lewis Trio.

Reading: Blogs on blogging. Go figure.

Wearing: This would make week 2 of ratty pajamas. I should probably attempt to do this post at a different time of the day. I should also probably attempt to invest in some cute sleep wear.

Craving: Another sip of coffee.

Wanting: To go back to the beach for a day or two.

Needing: To clean off my desk and re-organize my clothes, shoes and bags.

Looking forward to: Starting my 5 in 4 plan.

In The Kitchen: Thinking about making a Grand Ma cake for Sunday.

In the closet: Eyeing a few more pairs of Minnetonka's. My moccasins have been my go-to shoes this winter.

Around town: This weekend it will probably a stop at my beloved flea market (that has been around for as long as I can remember and will be closing next year) and a drive out to a local citrus grower to pick some fresh fruit. Maybe we will go watch the old timers that get together and play live jazz every Sunday.

Wishing for: A drama free weekend, holiday, life in general. When you have a big family, no news is good news.

Thankful for: The view in the photos above. That park, which is minutes from where we live, would be my happy place. I always leave there feeling a better than when I arrived.
