Over The Weekend

Weddings, ice cream, happy people, pretty surroundings, sunshine and warm air. Followed by tacos and beer (not pictured because I was too busy enjoying it).

Secret Spots

I took off by myself on Friday in search of photo opps. Following a hunch, I turned down a no outlet side road which led me to a hidden spot full of fishermen. I'm not going to tell you how to get there but I will tell you that it's on Lake Jessup, it's full of beautiful old trees and the gators are as abundant as the fish.

Driving around rural Florida with no agenda other than casual exploration = soul food.

Slowing Down

Family taking a break from the holiday craziness to do a little fishing on Lake Brantley.
It's all about prioritizing.

Don't know about the rest of you but I'm kind of glad it's over.

I love Christmas and everything that goes along with it but I equally love the way our home feels like a clean slate once all of the decorations are taken down and put away. I always make sure this is done before January 1st, somehow (to me) it symbolizes breathing a little easier.

Time to slow down and get back to normal.

*Taken over the weekend at the holiday boat parade.

With all of the Christmas crazy stuff monopolizing every free second, it's been hard to stick to goals. (That might be 50% true and 50% a cop out... Whatever). Shopping is done, food is ordered, presents still need to be wrapped and there are still a few cookie recipe's I want to try.

My goal this week is to take it all in stride. And get a pedicure. Definitely.

Loving: The new spot I discovered to pick fresh citrus.
Not Loving so much: Cranky boyfriends... What gives?!
Listening to: Mavis Staples
Reading (blog alert): The Private Life Of A Girl
Wanting: A Fitbit!
Needing: To get ready for work.
Wishing: Certain family members could get along... All of the bickering is giving me migraines. I might have to pull the momma card and get all Galadriel on their asses (she is a nasty piece of work when provoked)
Looking Forward To: A new year, fresh starts and, just like last week, the 5 in 4
Thankful For: As much as they drive me crazy, family and cranky boyfriends.

Style: Southern Prep

Contrary to popular belief, not all Southern women like chevron and statement necklaces. Just sayin'.

Merry Christmas To Meeee

This would be a picture of the original Andrew Spear drawing of the late great Sam Rivers (done for the cover of the Orlando Weekly). A local icon's rendition of another local icon. Hell yes!!! Or as Andrew Spear would say "WORD!"

With the help of my boyfriend, I purchased the original today. An early and most awesome Christmas present!
